Roof cleaning and moss removal in Bellingham
Moss holds water against your shingles all winter. Left alone it lifts edges, feeds rot, and refills your gutters every time it rains. I take it off by hand and with a low-pressure soft wash, then treat the roof so it stays clean longer.

Why I don't blast roofs with high pressure
A pressure washer will make a shingle roof look clean for a week and take years off it. The water strips granules, the part of the shingle that protects it from UV. Soft washing uses a cleaning solution at low pressure to kill moss and algae, then the dead growth rinses and weathers off. It works on asphalt shingles, metal and most other roof types.
Protecting your plants and siding
Before I spray anything I wet down landscaping, and I rinse again when I'm done. If you have beds or plants you're especially careful about, tell me and I'll work around them.
Zinc treatment
Zinc is what keeps moss from moving right back in. I apply zinc sulfate powder along the ridges, and every rain carries a little down the roof. Zinc strips are a separate, more permanent install, and I'm happy to quote them.
How often in Bellingham?
Most roofs under heavy fir and cedar cover need attention every one to two years. Open, sunny roofs can go longer. If you can see green from the street, it's time.

Will soft washing hurt my plants?
Not when it's done right. I pre-wet landscaping, keep the mix where it belongs and rinse afterwards. Tell me about anything delicate and I'll protect it.
Is it safe for my roof?
Yes. Soft washing uses low pressure, so it doesn't strip granules the way a pressure washer does.
Do you install zinc strips?
I do zinc sulfate powder treatments on most jobs. Strip installs take more time and I quote them separately.
